Ireland's GDP per capita at $39,000 in April 2024, Denmark at $69,000

US dollars per capita

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) in April 2024 published a ranking of GDP (Gross Domestic Product). The deep green on the map shows what are called 36 Advanced Countries.

The first two are anomalies. In Luxembourg, almost half the workforce lives in neighbouring countries while Irish data are about three times the reality because of foreign multinational distortions.

1) Luxembourg: 131,38 thousand; 2) Ireland: 106.06; 3) Switzerland: 105.67; 4) Norway: 94.66; 5) Singapore 88.45; 6) United States 85.37; 7) Iceland: 84.90; 8) Denmark: 68.90; 9) Australia: 66.59; 10) Netherlands: 63.75; 11) Austria: 59.23; 12) Sweden: 58.53; 13) Belgium: 55.54; 14) Finland: 55.13; 15) Canada: 54.87; 16) Germany; 54.29; 17) Isreal: 53.37; 18) United Kingdom: 51.07; 19) New Zealand 48,53; 20) France: 47,36; 21) Malta: 41.74;

Under 40,000:

22) Italy: 39.58; 23) Cyprus: 37.15; 24) Spain: 36.05; 25) Taiwan: 34.43; 26) Slovenia: 34.03; 27) South Korea: 34.16; 28) Japan: 33.14; and 29) Estonia: 31.85.

Three other countries which are in deep green on the map chart should be classified as Advanced Countries: Qatar; 81.40; United Arab Emirates: 53.92 and Saudi Arabia: 33.04.

I have pruned the IMF's list of 41 countries: Andorra; Hong Kong; Macao; Puerto Rico and San Marino.

Ireland's adjustments to reality

In 2023 Denmark's GDP was €370bn (euros). Ireland's level was €510bn.

However, the Net Factor Income are the inflows and outflows of capital resulting in a net €388bn.

Then 1) Factor income of redomiciled companies 2) Depreciation on R&D service imports and trade in IP and 3) Depreciation on aircraft leasing results in €291bn.

However, what the Central Statistics Office (CSO) calls Goods for Processing (Contract Manufacturing) are valued at more than €100,000bn. They are virtual and Apple is the main beneficiary.

The net figure is €182bn and the per capita in December 2023 was €34,000. This is in line with the Spanish level.

In US dollars for Ireland, it is $36,700 and about $39,000 in April 2024.
